Abstract: The 'Palm Springs Glam' residence, which was a finalist on HGTV's 'Battle of the Bling', is on the market for $769,000.

You may remember the 1979-era condo in Palm Springs, California, which went on the market in early 2021. This wallpapered wonder was sold that year to its current owner, who added more bling and is now ready to turn it over.

The listing agent representing the flat also helped the current owner purchase the vintage home, now known as Bling House.

"It was on the market for 284 days, and then, out of the blue, my best friend said to me, 'I want to buy a condo. Do you think you could find one in Palm Springs?" recalls Tyler Giles, listing agent at Nourmand & Associates - Beverly Hills." I said, 'I have the perfect one, and I sent it to him. He said, 'That's it,' and we bought it the next day."

The 2,300-square-foot time capsule changed hands at the time for $450,000.

"The woman who owned it owned it for about 20 years and had only been there about eight times," Giles explains." She loved it, but had never been there, so my friend got a good deal."

The current owner has spent about $100,000 on the two-bedroom, two-bathroom flat, Giles said.

"He put in new flooring, refurnished it, toned it down, [and] modernised it," he explains." The house was really perfect, it just needed improvements."

For him, improvements meant replacing the bright blue carpets in most rooms with a softer beige colour. The chic terrazzo was replaced with carpet in the bathrooms.

The bathroom sink is new, but the vanity is original.

The kitchen still has a 1979 feel, but with new wallpaper, a new sink and recessed lighting instead of fluorescent tubes.

"His whole job," says Giles, "was to lighten it up and make it cool and retro, but functional and perfect." He didn't want to ruin it because it was beautiful and tasteful. There was no need to tear it all down."

And the immaculate and unique furniture in the home is even part of the sale. The circular sofa, round mirrored table and glass cabinet were all custom-made for that house, Giles says.

"None of this was bought off the shelf," he adds." [In the master bedroom,] that bed is a custom platform with lights underneath. And the headboard attached to the wall with the separate glass panel probably weighs 400 pounds."

Many of the home's other custom-designed features have also been retained, including the magnificent mirrored bar.

"The fireplace," says Giles, "is all glass with a glass hearth." As you walk through the door of the home, the hallway has mirrored ceilings. There is a custom blue mirrored wall. This is very much an entertainer's dream home. Because of the circular sofa, when everyone sits down, they sit down and face each other."

The condo association's facilities include two swimming pools, tennis courts, a clubhouse and gym.

"He's selling it, and it's killing me," Giles says with a laugh." When we spend weekends in the desert, we meet here. Everyone starts having cocktails in this house and then we go out."
