"Perched high on a hillside, it's a higher house, so it has an especially nice view," said Scott Jarson of AZ Construction, the listing agent for the modern mansion in Phoenix. Located at the foot of Echo Mountain, the home boasts massive glass walls and spectacular views of the surrounding mountain preserve.
Built in 2001, the home was designed by Wendell Burnette Architects, known for its luxury resort, Amangiri, in Utah. It has three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
"It's well known in the design world," Jarson said.
The house was featured in Dwell magazine and was last sold in 2010 for $406,559. The seller abandoned the property due to relocation.
Between 2012 and 2016, the home was renovated and restored. The interior and exterior walls were replastered and the kitchen and bathrooms were updated with designer finishes.
Lot size is another selling point, and Jarson notes that the lot is more than half an acre in size, twice the size of other lots in the area.
The resort-style pool provides a tranquil and stylish escape. The gardens have also been recently updated to make it more of a resort.
The central Phoenix area borders the desirable Paradise Valley.
"Buyers who come to this area tend to be based [employed] in central Phoenix, but still want that feeling of being in the desert," Jarson says.
While it's safe to assume buyers will like the modern design, it's easy to be a family with kids or a doctor because of the nearby medical complex.
"A lot of people come for the architect himself," adds Jarson. Wendell Burnette Architects has other Phoenix homes in its portfolio, but this one "ended up being in the more attainable price range of his designs.
