Abstract: A month ago, someone snapped up a mid-century modern gem in Lexington, Kentucky, but ultimately failed to do so.

The four-bedroom, four-bathroom building is back on the market for others to snap up. It's a rare opportunity.

Teresa Blakeman, listing agent at The Brokerage, says, "There aren't many mid-century modern homes in the area." It was built in 1962 and has been very well maintained. It has a very distinctive look.

The 3,633-square-foot home, listed for $1.52 million, blends original details with 2023 amenities.

The home is very special with its terrazzo floors, curves and open, light-filled view of the backyard, Blackman said.

The home has new skylights, a backup solar electric system with panels and three Tesla Powerwall batteries.

The kitchen is ready for a family eager to cook with new appliances.

"The kitchen is new, but in keeping with the history of the home," Blackman said." The owners of the updated kitchen didn't change the layout of the home.

The master suite is on one side, and an atrium separates the other bedrooms from the living area.

"It's a one-of-a-kind house," Blackman said." You simply don't see houses like this. We don't have a house like this. When you walk in, light is everywhere. It gives it a Zen-like feel. When you walk in, it calms you."

Harvard-educated architect Richard Schubert designed the home.

He used an organic-looking steel screen that you can see through several windows, which is very unique, Blackman said.

The same design was used for the front door.

She noted that several designers toured the place during the open house.

"People loved it," she said. It's like living in a work of art.
